Announcing Gene Kim as Strategic Advisor, helping guide our Value Stream Integration Vision for DevOps

Ever since I started bumping into him at countless conferences, the learning from my meetings with Gene Kim just keeps accelerating.  I have never met anyone who can match Gene in channeling where the industry is at, seeing the vision for a better way, and bringing together the technologists and leaders who will get us there.

Gene Kim and Mik KerstenI am absolutely thrilled to announce that Gene is joining as a Strategic Advisor to Tasktop.  Gene and I share a passion for transforming how software is built, and for unlocking the $2.6 trillion of value creation that the world will see once companies connect the Value Streams within their organizations and across their software supply chains (see Introduction chapter of the DevOps Handbook).

At a recent All Hands meeting, I asked over 100 Tasktop staff to read the DevOps Handbook.  While I regularly update my reading list with suggestions for various departments and functions, I never thought I’d suggest a book for the entire company to read. I was not only blown away by the breadth and depth of the work, but also of how it summarizes some of the key learnings from the most important lean and management and software delivery books that I’ve read.  It gives us all the common vocabulary and foundations needed to collaborate on the next phase of software delivery.

With DevOps, Gene has spearheaded and nurtured a movement that is reshaping the future of software delivery more than any other effort I know of right now.  Every industrial revolution needs a new kind of infrastructure, and I created Tasktop to become the company that provides every organization with the infrastructure necessary for software transformation and innovation.  I am thrilled that Gene will help guide Tasktop and our customers on this amazing journey, and help us with our mission of paving the path to turn the world’s most important organizations into the next generation of software innovators.
